Midland Gliding Club 'The Mynd' 'Thera's a lot of people that like gliding, and then there’s those of us who like the Mynd. There are plenty of other clubs and places, but there is just something about this place. We used to drive past about six different clubs to get here, we’d come in snow and winter weather just to experience the life up here.'

Shirehampton Sailing Club 'I don’t sail anymore but I like to come down on a Saturday morning for two or three hours, for company, that’s what it boils down to. It’s somewhere to come down and see somebody that I know, I think with us that’s probably what it is. The four of us we are pretty much always here you know, I mean, we are here without a doubt.'

If I moved away I’d miss it, I’d miss the people. I wouldn’t necessarily miss the building but I’d miss what it all stands for and what it represents and the history that’s part of my life. Even if I went away for a bit I’d want to come back.'

It’s got a very homely, timeless, nostalgic feel. I’m taken out of my everyday life at this place, its got a very comforting, soothing feel, definitely.'

Henleaze Swimming Club 'I think it’s best to leave it as it is, nice and free and easy and not too regimented, it has to be a place where you can be outside the conventions of normal society. For me the people I know here I only know in this space, I might not see them outside and I quite like that.'

Henleaze Swimming Club 'At first I joined because it’s like a little oasis of nature in the city and it’s very relaxing. Over time I’ve become very attached to the water, particularly through the winter swimming.  It’s a place where I go to get away from everyday stresses and refresh and move into a different space. It's really calming, it’s really good for the mind and the body, it’s an escape.'
