Friends of Rwandan Rugby
In February 2015 I travelled to Rwanda with Friends of Rwandan Rugby, to photograph the annual coaching tour. This year, after 2 days in Kigalithe coaches travelled to Musanze district in the north west of the country, to work in 3 primary schools and 3 secondary schools; British coaches work alongside Rwandan coaches to share skills and knowledge. FoRR have been working in the country for the past 10 years, building friendships, trust and reconciliation in schools and communities through the team sport of rugby, following the devastating genocide of 1994. Tharcisse Kamanda, the Programme Manager says “ my dream is to promote this sport all over Rwanda in order to build our unity destroyed by the genocide of 1994, through competitions and games.
